More a 3.5 but one of the weaker Alan Moore stories and a little vapid, especially if you're not very familiar to DC/Superman
By Deej
I picked this up more as an Alan Moore fan than a Superman fan. In fact, this is literally the first superman story i can remember reading, having predominately read Marvel since the mid 80's. However, I'm definitely not averse to the Superman character. The stories collected here definitely contain the philosophical/metaphysical traits of Alan Moore's work, however done with far less depth than say 'Watchmen, V or Swamp Thing for example. Stories were fairly intriguing but a bit too simplistic and minimal for my liking. Unfortunately, also being a near novice to the mainstream DC world and only knowing Superman's supporting characters from the movies (old and new), I can't say any of the supposedly "shocking" deaths or events had any real impact on me, as naturally, I never became invested in the characters and was oblivious to past story lines. I really picked this up for Moore's innovative writing and unfortunately, I was disappointed in this regard. The additional stories, 'Superman and Swamp Thing' and the Superman Annual, was a bit more Moore, but nevertheless a bit too basic for his standards.

Overall, readable but nothing amazing. This may appeal to certain Superman fans but for Moore fans, be aware that this is weak for him. Nevertheless, Moore completionist may still want to read this.

A Longevity as Strong as Steel
By Tris
Where could I begin? Alan Moore again wrote a masterpiece with a beloved hero and American icon.
The story is short, sweet, and just overall satisfying. Superman has his hands full to say the least, and the remnants of his enemies return for a final confrontation foretold as the Man of Steel's final day.
Honestly, you could not have asked for a better conclusion. The story also ends marvelously. Just overall TERRIFIC. This novel also includes additional Superman stories concocted from Moore. One also features the artwork of Dave Gibbons!
I would totally recommend this novel for all that you can get from it, it is amazing.

Superman Silver Ages
By Traboulsi Sami
Perhaps the most wonderful period of Superman stories were in the silver ages (1971-1986), very fine arts, classic stories, and piece of greatness.
Julius Schvarts editing was the best, the modern arts and stories that came after were less beauty.
This novel, maybe the best "imagining" story ever published, for me, the best story for me was "the final days of Lois and Lana". I remember that i was so sad in the end of this story, almost pay a tear, and that's for two things, the story itself, and knowing that DC comics will stop publishing the silver age books, and start their what they called "Modern books".
It, for me, looked like that Superman really dead, reviewing all the wonderful stories were told in the seventies and the first part of the eighties, any way, Every golden period has an end.
Enjoy reading that book, a Novel believe me, under the editing of the greatest, Julius Schvartes.
