editor unfit to lecture on leadership
By Shirlington
I worked for many "leaders" during my career in business and government. Ben Dowell was the worst I ever served under. You were fortunate if he liked you. If he didn't, he treated you with open contempt. It had nothing to do with capabilities or skills. He never understood that a superb leader is an individual with personal character and principles because he didn't personally possess those attributes. He mostly possessed an inflated opinion of himself. His view of leadership was purely and only mechanical-technical.

An educational read and a handy desk reference - all in one!
By Justin Black
Strategy-Driven Talent Management serves multiple purposes. It's an approachable introduction to the emerging field of talent management. It provides recommendations for implementing and evaluating specific talent management programs (e.g., high-potential talent management, succession management) based both on sound scientific research and the authors' practical experiences. And most of the chapters offer anecdotes and examples that elucidate the concepts and give the reader a starting point for creating their own tools. The writing is geared toward an audience with advanced knowledge of or experience in industrial-organizational psychology or human resources. There is an annotated bibliography at the back, which is a huge bonus for anyone wanting more detail on the research that is cited in each chapter. If you practice and/or study talent management, this is a must-have book.

Good information, but needs improvement.
By SmR
Ok book. Good information if you need to focus on top managers. Not helpful for entry level managers or hourly employees. I would have liked a section discussing how to work with future leaders who are currently low on the ladder.
The e-version was easy to read through. Having only locations and not page numbers made it very difficult to reference. The subject index was not useful, as it did not list locations or was clickable to take me to the location.
